2nd – 7th MARCH – SEWA WEEK 2009!!
“Sewa” literally means, “Selfless Service”. From the 2nd – 7th March 2009 we will have an entire fun-filled week of raising money, performing acts for the benefit of others and inspiring others to become proactive in volunteering.
You can get involved in more than one way. You may want to take on a ‘personal project’ and get sponsored for doing an act of sewa, e,g. 24 hours sponsored silence, food fasting or even wearing your pj’s to lectures!
You can also be a part of this great week by participating in organised events –

MONDAY 2ND MARCH 2009
Event: Sign ups for charities and individual projects
Details: Your chance to sign up to voluntary projects and charities at the guild.
Venue: Guild Foyer

Event: AARTI
Details: LIVE aarti and an inspirational talk on what selfless service is really about. Sign up for personal projects and also more information on the weeks events.

Event: SPONGE ‘EM
Details: Your chance to sponge your guild and society ‘presidents’.

Event: PAINT A PROMISE
Details: Paint a promise with your handprint! Declare not to drop litter, making the world a cleaner and better place to be!

Details: Feed others by feeding yourself ! Delicious cakes and samosa’s will be on sale! There will be some home made cheesecakes and cup cakes…

Event: Lakshmi Narayan Mandir Clean up – “Pick up your Litter!”
Details: Clean up the outside area around the mandir – we need as many people as we can get, try getting friends involved too.

THURSDAY 5TH MARCH 2009
Event: CHARITY BUCKET RAID & TIN FOOD COLLECTION
Details: Going into the Birmingham City Centre and around Aston University with charity buckets and having some fun! Also collecting tin food to provide to the local food shelter.

Time: 12:30 – 3pm
Event: PRO-EVO & SINGSTAR TOURNAMENT
Details: A computer football tournament for the boys (and girls if they want!) and also a chance for all you singers to put your voices to the test in the singstar tournament!

Event: MEHNDI NIGHT
Details: The perfect opportunity for girls and guys to mingle and get mehndi (henna tattooing) done at the same time.

Details: A collaboration of the week’s events. A chance to reflect, laugh and cringe on photos, videos and snip-its of the selfless acts done by YOU!
